You only get one shot, so make it count

Although it is still chilly outside, the joys of spring and summer fashion has past and we look ahead to autumn/winter 2010. I'm rather saddened by the lack of colour in the autumn/winter collections that I've seen from London Fashion Week so far. However, I noticed Osman's collection, although focusing on darker elements, many pieces were highlighted with flashes of colour. I really like the suit-look, an edgier look than the blazers I'm wearing at the moment, there's something appealingapart the sharp look. Perhaps it's still to do with the anti-chav inside many of us, where I live the preppy look is rising as a result of this. A lot of the designers are going for the 'red carpet' look, which not many of us get to grace, so I'll be interested as to how this is incorporated into high street looks. I'm not so sure of the large-thighed trousers, (I'm sorry I don't know the correct term yet) they remind me of the fertility look that Malvin Vein did the week he was eliminated from Project Runway. :(
Thoughts on Osman's collection and/or London Fashion week's blackness?

I'd like to make myself believe that planet earth turns slowly

I will never forget the first designer-for-high street item I bought, it was a pair of jeans by Giles for New Look, which Agyness Dean campaigned for. I thought they were amazing, now they just sit in my wardrobe looking pretty. Nonetheless, Gile's Pre-Fall 2010 collection is lovely. All of the outfits are wearable, which is nice and the draped nude dress is fabulous, it's the kind of shape that would make anyone look good. I'm seeing a lot of skater skirts coming in, like the orange skirt in the photo with the spanner headware, but apparently they're more spring/summer, however the majority I've seen have been in pre-fall and fall/winter collections. Maybe I'm just looking in the wrong places. The set looks amazing, a kind of domestic nightmare.

Ooh and check out those Louboutins ;)

Tonight I'm not taking no calls 'cause I'll be dancing

Sorry for not blogging for a while, been incredibly busy, so much work, craziness.

This collection by Kenzo (S/S '10) is strange to me, it seems to combine comfy with military and to me that's not a match ever imaginable since my combats are not exactly lounge-wear. At the same time it also feels like there is a distinct difference between the Spring and Summer collections, guess which is which, I'll put 2 next to each other (it's not difficult), seems a bit obvious, but maybe I'm just in a cynical mood. I keep thinking to myself that my life is not what I want it to be, but don't know what to do to change it. Ahh well, back to the fashion. I found interesting his use of models, if you look at the whole collection you may spot the theme, but I'm not going to write it here, I'll leave it to you to look. I like the while cowl/hood top a more demure version of what Amber Rose wore, :) Love the draping of the top playsuit(?) that's what it looks like anyway, the colours are great, I would be incredibly happy to find that in my holiday wardrobe. I also recently bought a denim jacket/shirt, probably why I'm adding the couple of denim-jacketed looks this time. I find myself often wearing double-denim, which used to be tragic, but I think it's okay now. I hope so anyway,
What do you think?

The world turns in all of its ways

As I write this my battery is warning me that I only have 17 minutes remaining before it gives up on me, so... this had better be quick. That aside, Loewe's S/S '10 collection is beautiful . The skirts and trousers really remind me of Althea Harper from Project Runway and her style, I don't know what she's doing at the moment, but I'll look that up when I have more battery and get back to you. Although I can't quite understand the colour palette, it's interesting to see the contrasting(ish) hues against each other. I think I've added a few really similar pictures, but I just love the style, I probably couldn't pull off the entire look, but would definitely, if I had the money, use some of the pieces to create my own interpretation.

Also, am I the only one who doesn't see the comeback of the poncho/cape as a great addition to the streets/walks? It just brings connotations of Ugly Betty to me if I'm going to be honest.
pheww, got that done with 8 minutes to go until death of laptop.

I have one desire, just to be with you

I know I seem to be going for the big names at the moment, rather than the lesser known ones, but its got to be said, they're big for a reason. I'm loving Balmain's S/S '10 collection. They've stuck with the huge embellished shoulders and military styling for the majority. Although I'm not such a fan of sparkles/sequins/etc. I love the strong jackets and angles. I'm also starting to have a little likening to the khaki boots, not so much the black boots, they're too reminiscent of those I had to wear for CCF.

What was I supposed to do, drag her by her hair and lock her in your closet

I love Topshop Unique's S/S '10 collection. It is so beautifully casual, the use of rubber/latex gives the looks a high fashion edge, not so wearable, but I guess it's for sale aswell though. They're really going for the sporty look as well this season. I love the shark detailing on some of the tops, but I'm not so sure about the look on the dresses, I've not added pictures as I'm not a fan, but it's cute, I guess. Gorgeous swimsuit aswell.
